Squarespace Pricing Plans (2025): Which Plan is Best for Me?

Squarespace Pricing Plans: Which Plan is Best for Me?

Price is one of the most important factors when choosing a platform for your website. You want something that’s affordable, but gives you all the functionality you need.

One of the advantages of Squarespace is that pretty much everything is included in your subscription, like hosting, customer support, and security updates.

But onto the big question… how much does Squarespace cost?

Let’s look at the different pricing plans, Squarespace subscriptions, and if there are any ways to get a discount on your brand-new website.

Is Squarespace free?

Unfortunately, Squarespace isn’t free. However, Squarespace offers a free 14-day trial, so you can take advantage of all the different features and see if it’s right for your needs.

You don’t have to enter your credit card details. When your trial ends, you can upgrade to the paid service, extend your trial period by seven days, or let your trial site expire.

How much does Squarespace cost?

It depends on the pricing tier you choose. Currently there are four different pricing plans, with different costs and features.

Important note: Squarespace charges in USD, so if you’re in another country, the price you pay will depend on the exchange rate.

Basic (Previously ‘Personal’)

$21 a month/$16 annually

Best for: Bloggers and people looking to show off their portfolio

Personal websites can be a great way to showcase a hobby, start a side hustle, or establish yourself as a thought leader. The Basic plan is an excellent introduction to Squarespace and a fantastic way to get started with your own high-quality website.

While the Basic plan is great for individuals and small businesses, it does have some limits in place. While you can sell products and courses online, you’re subject to higher online store and digital content fees—meaning you pay more when you make a sale.

As you can’t use custom code, you also can’t take advantage of Spark Plugin on the Basic plan.

Core (Previously ‘Business’)

$32 a month/$23 annually

Best for: Small businesses starting to sell online

The Core plan is the next step up. You get fully integrated e-commerce and advanced analytics so you can see which product pages are the most successful.

You also get unlimited contributors, meaning you can have as many people managing and amending your website as you like.

While you don’t have online store transaction fees on the core plan, there is a 5% fee on digital content and memberships. So if you’re planning on selling online courses and memberships, it may not be the right tier for your needs.

Plus (Previously ‘Basic Commerce)

$48 a month/$39 annually

Best for: Established businesses that want to sell memberships and courses online

The Plus plan has all the functionality of the Core plan, but is geared towards businesses that want to build a community around their brands.

You get 50 hours of video hosting and storage, a slightly reduced credit card payment processing rate (1.7% instead of 2%), and the digital content and memberships transaction fee is reduced to 1%.

Advanced (Previously ‘Advanced Commerce’)

$119 a month/$99 annually

Best for: Large businesses that sell a lot of products online and want Squarespace to do all the heavy lifting

The most powerful (and most expensive) of the Squarespace pricing plans, the Advanced plan is ideal for medium and large businesses that do most of their selling online.

The main draw of this Squarespace pricing plan is that the credit card rate is 1.5% and the digital content and memberships transaction fee is 0%. This means if you sell an online membership or course, Squarespace doesn’t take a cut.

You also get unlimited video hosting.

Is there a Squarespace subscription package?

There isn’t a Squarespace subscription as such, but there is the option to pay monthly or annually.

Paying monthly is more expensive, but you are on a monthly rolling contract, meaning you can cancel or change your Squarespace subscription at any time. You can see how to do this later on in this article.

You get a discount if you pay annually, but this means you need to be committed to your Squarespace subscription for the year. If you cancel, you don’t get your money back.

Still not sure if an annual subscription is right for you? Here’s a sweetener—you get a free custom domain for the year!

Which Squarespace pricing plan should I choose?

It ultimately depends on your goals, the features you want to take advantage of, and whether you want to sell online or not. If you’re not looking for e-commerce functionality and want a simple website, the Basic plan is a great place to start.

If you’re a small business testing e-commerce, the Core plan is ideal. You can always upgrade to the Plus or Advanced plan once you start selling to take advantage of the lower transaction fees.

There is also a lot of flexibility, as you can upgrade and downgrade when you want. Let’s look at how you can do this.

Can I change or cancel my Squarespace pricing plan?

Yes. You can change your pricing plan anytime.

Go to your account dashboard, open the billing panel and go to subscriptions. If you’re upgrading, the changes will take effect immediately, while if you’re downgrading, the changes will take effect at the end of your billing cycle.

You can cancel your Squarespace pricing plan at any time too. Bear in mind that if you do this, your website will be permanently deleted after 30 days. You also won’t receive a refund unless you cancel an annual plan within 14 days of the first payment.

Are there any other Squarespace fees to consider?

Yes. You’ll need to buy a domain name for your website, which generally costs between $20 to $70.

Don’t forget that if you purchase an annual plan, you get a domain name free for a year.
